Jordi Avilés Zapater, Jordi Domènech Llauradó, Vicenç Martí Fraga, Joan Mundet Tarragó and Diego Pino are the five new clergymen in the Archdiocese of Barcelona.

After seven years of training for this new position, the five new priests were ordained by Cardinal Joan Josep Omella i Omella in a ceremony held in the Basilica of the Sagrada Família. The grandeur of the Temple echoed the importance of the ceremony which was attended by many friends and relatives of the five newly-ordained clergymen.

During the homily, the Archbishop of Barcelona addressed the new priests, telling them that “a priest is the Good Shepherd among the community that he serves,” and told them: “Be experts in God, not so much because of what you have studied but rather what you have experienced in life.”

As such, he reminded them of Saint John of Avila and Saint John Vianney, patron saints of the clergy, who “did not fulfil the office of priesthood with little enthusiasm and depth,” but rather they “felt called to sainthood.”
