angle-left Sagrada Família will create its own music library with works specifically thought out for the Temple’s acoustics

The Sagrada Família will host its traditional Easter concert on 28 March, during which a piece which has been composed expressly for Gaudí’s Temple and its unique acoustics will be performed for the first time. Young composer Carles Prat was commissioned to create the piece which will be the first one included in the Sagrada Família’s own music library, including works created specifically with its acoustics in mind.

The Barcelona Ars Nova choir, led by Mireia Barrera, and the Sagrada Família’s organist, Juan de la Rubia, will perform the concert. Tickets for the concert will be given out in a prize draw. Registration will start on 16 March and will remain open until 23 March. All of the information to take part in the prize draw will be published on this website.

What’s more, this concert will be the final part of the Obertura City+ programme, the parallel cycle to the Barcelona Obertura Spring Festival, which was presented this morning, organised by Gran Teatre del Liceu, Palau de la Música Catalana and L’Auditori. This is the first time that the Basilica is taking part in the initiative and this is a unique opportunity to enjoy Antoni Gaudí’s architectural mastery while also enjoying a piece of music specifically composed to be played in the Sagrada Família.
