angle-left The Sagrada Família is adding a second international mass to its liturgical calendar

The first weekend in October, a second international mass will begin to be held in the central nave of the Basilica of the Sagrada Família. Specifically, this religious office will be held on Saturdays and evenings before holy days of obligation at 8 pm. The first international evening mass will be held in the Temple this coming 5 October.

For the past two years, the Basilica has been offering an international mass on Sundays at 9 am. However, this celebration became overcrowded thanks to the influx of pilgrims, all of whom could not fit into the Temple, which is why it was decided to add a second international mass.

Just as in the morning celebration, different languages (Latin, Catalan, Spanish, English, Italian and French) will be used in the new evening mass to make it more understandable for those attending. The songs in this mass will also be sung by the Cor Francesc Valls, conducted by Pere-Lluís Biosca, and the organist will be the Basilica’s tenured organist, Juan de la Rubia.

Attending either mass is free and open to the public until capacity is reached. Any groups that want to attend should fill out the form located in the worship section on the Sagrada Família website.
