From 1 to 8 December, the Sagrada Família invited the whole world to take part in digitally illuminating the tower of the Virgin Mary, symbolically.

This was done with digital flashes of light that contributed to the progressive illumination of the real tower of the Virgin Mary in the run up to the lighting of the star.

The base of the tower was lit up on 4 December from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm and the shaft on 6 December from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

458.927 people from 122 countries have participated in the initiative.

INAUGURATION CEREMONY

The central events of the inauguration of the tower of the Virgin Mary will be held on 8 December, the feast of the Immaculate Conception.

From 10:30 am, for the first time in the history of the Basilica, there will be a city ceremony inside the Temple and streamed live here 

The central event is scheduled for 6:00 pm, with a mass led by Cardinal Joan Josep Omella i Omella, Archbishop of Barcelona, and afterwards, the blessing of the tower of the Virgin Mary.

At 7:40 pm, the whole tower of the Virgin Mary and its star will be lit up and streamed live on estel.sagradafamilia.org.
