On 28 October, General Director of the Junta Constructora del Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família Foundation Xavier Martínez took part in a panel discussion titled “Technology and innovation in cultural tourism” at Palau de la Música Catalana. The panel was part of an event called ‘The sustainable future of cultural tourism. Policies and tools for managing tourist flows in cities and promoting new destinations and experiences’ organised by GetYourGuide.

The session brought together representatives from the cultural and tourism arena to reflect on how technology is transforming the way cultural and heritage sites are managing visitors. The discussion touched on topics such as real-time mobility systems, dynamic ticket management, predictive capacity-planning technologies and the challenges of an increasingly data-driven sector.

Xavier Martínez shared his experience at the helm of the Sagrada Família along with panellists Mateu Hernández, director general of Turisme de Barcelona; and Miguel Sanz, managing director of Turespaña. The conversation was moderated by TV3 cultural journalist Carolina Rosich.
