The Holy See has confirmed that Pope Leo XIV will celebrate a Solemn Mass at the Basilica of the Sagrada Família on 10 June, the hundredth anniversary of Antoni Gaudí’s death. Then he will bless the newly completed tower of Jesus Christ.
The Holy Father’s journey to Catalonia also includes a visit to the Cathedral, a prayer vigil at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium (with roughly 37,000 people, with the possibility of expanding to 39,000), a visit to Can Brians prison, a meeting with the Benedictine community at the Abbey of Our Lady of Montserrat, which is celebrating its thousandth anniversary this year; and a meeting with social organisations working in different areas of poverty at the Sant Agustí parish church, in Barcelona’s Raval neighbourhood.
Visual identity, website and awareness
The visual identity and graphic image for the Pontifical visit to Catalonia is based on the slogan “Look up”, inspired by the Gospel according to John and the beauty of the Basilica of the Sagrada Família, which tells us to: “Look up”. A message that both welcomes Pope Leo XIV and invites us to look up at the tower of Jesus Christ. This creative concept is used on all the posters, pamphlets and catechism materials that have been created.
To provide more information on Leo XIV’s journey to Catalonia, we have created the following websites alçalamirada.cat and alzalamirada.es.
