The Board of Trustees of the Junta Constructora del Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família would like to announce the death last night in Barcelona of the head architect, Mr. Jordi Bonet i Armengol, at the age of 97.

Jordi Bonet i Armengol was the head architect of the construction works from 1985 to 2012, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Junta Constructora for more than 50 years. Bonet carried out construction work on the naves and the interior vaults with flat brick vaulting, as well as all the preliminary research into Gaudí's project and introducing computer technology into the project and production of the stone elements.

Jordi Bonet excelled in pushing ahead with the work at a time when the continuation of the project was controversial in Catalan society. His work to promote the Sagrada Família and Gaudí was a central part of his life.
