On 20 May at 6:00 pm, the Sagrada Família cloister of Our Lady of Mercy hosted the ceremony presenting the awards for baccalaureate research projects and higher vocational training course projects. These awards recognise the students’ hard work in learning and research related to religious fact and innovation in science, technology and literature that broaden our collective knowledge about Gaudí and the Temple of the Sagrada Família.
First prize went to Berta Camprubí Junyent, from Institut Guillem de Berguedà, for her work titled “Les matemàtiques de Gaudí” (Gaudí’s Maths). Second prize went to the project titled “Diàlegs entre l’Alcorà i la ciència” (Dialogues between the Koran and science), by Aya Lamrini Mejahed of Institut Montsacopa. Finally, the third prize went to Sofía Guzmán of Col·legi Bon Salvador in Olot, for her work “Ciència i fe: dues visions de la mort” (Science and faith: two views of death).
The awards are organised by Ateneu Universitari Sant Pacià, the Christian School Foundation of Catalonia (FECC) and the Basilica of the Sagrada Família.
At this fourth awards ceremony, the winners and their guests were present, as were Ms Núria Vendrell, member of the Junta Board of Directors; Mr Xavier Martínez, General Director; and Ms Marta Otzet, director of Culture and Social/Educational Actions, who welcomed the participants. Mr Víctor Cullell, incoming deputy secretary general of FECC, spoke at the event and Mons. Joan Torra, rector of the Ateneu Universitari Sant Pacià in Barcelona, gave the closing remarks
