Sagrada Familia is launching a short story competition open to members of the public aged 18 and over, with no separate categories, in Catalan and open to different literary genres. The competition is limited to 60 participants, and the awards ceremony will take place on 20 November at 6:30 p.m. at the Cloister of Our Lady Mercy. The registration period is from 13 to 18 October 2026 on this website.

The creative process will be based on four quotes attributed to Antoni Gaudí. Each participant will choose one and write an original story inspired by the quote. The quote will serve as a creative trigger: it may inspire the theme, atmosphere, conflict or a character, but it does not have to be reproduced or explained literally. The quotes are as follows:

• “This tree near my workshop: this is my master!”
• “To do things well, you need: first, love for them; second, technique”
• “Originality consists in returning to the origin”
• “Glory is light, light brings joy, and joy is the happiness of the spirit”

The stories must be original and the sole work of the participant. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools or systems for the generation, writing or modification of the stories submitted to the competition is therefore not permitted. Each story will be assessed individually, with a score from 0 to 10.

To participate:

• Complete the registration form with the requested information.
• Read and accept the competition’s legal terms and conditions and the corresponding documentation.
• Once your registration has been completed, you will receive all the information you need.

Prizes:

The following prizes will be awarded:

First prize:

• A €300 gift card for Laie Bookshop.
• 2 tickets to Sagrada Familia.
• Publication of the story on the Sagrada Familia website.
• A featured reading of the story during the event and promotion through official channels.

Second prize:

• A €200 gift card for Laie Bookshop.
• 2 tickets to Sagrada Familia.
• Publication of the story on the Sagrada Familia website.

Third prize:

• A €100 gift card for Laie Bookshop.
• 2 tickets to Sagrada Familia.
• Publication of the story on the Sagrada Familia website.

In addition, all participants will receive a certificate of participation.
