On the evening of 8 May, the Nativity façade of the Sagrada Família was lit up for Europe Day, celebrated on 9 May. This day commemorates the Schuman Declaration, a proposal that led to the creation of the European Community.

That same evening, other emblematic buildings and spaces in the city of Barcelona were also bathed in blue light.
