On the evening of 8 May, the Nativity façade of the Sagrada Família was lit up to mark Europe Day, celebrated on 9 May, a date that commemorates the Schuman Declaration, the speech that led to the creation of the European Community.

That same evening, other spaces and emblematic buildings in the city of Barcelona were also lit up in blue.
