The Sagrada Família Board and its ex officio president, Cardinal Joan Josep Omella, Archbishop of Barcelona, Archbishop of Barcelona, have been honored with the 19th Amic del Passeig de Gràcia Award for their contribution to “bringing to completion” Antoni Gaudí’s masterpiece and most universal project, as well as for “embracing with ambition the major challenges that lie ahead for the city.”
The awards, granted by the Passeig de Gràcia Association, were received this Thursday at the Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona by Esteve Camps, Executive Chairman of the Junta Constructora, and David Abadías, Auxiliary Bishop of Barcelona, on behalf of Cardinal Omella, who is accompanying the Pope on his visit to Catalonia.
Also speaking at the event were and Ramon Espadaler, Minister of Justice and Democratic Quality of the Government of Catalonia, Jordi Valls, City Councillor and Fourth Deputy Mayor of Barcelona City Council and Lluís Sans, President of the Passeig de Gràcia Association.
