Cardinal Joan Josep Omella, Archbishop of Barcelona and ex officio President of the Foundation Board of the Expiatory Temple of the Sagrada Família, and Esteve Camps, Executive President of the Board, took part on Sunday, 6 September, in Tortosa’s traditional Procession of the Cinta, one of the most significant events held in honour of the city’s patron saint.

During the procession, Cardinal Omella carried the Main Banner of the Royal Archconfraternity of Our Lady of the Cinta. He was accompanied as banner attendants by Esteve Camps and Mossèn Marc Labori, the Cardinal’s private secretary.

The presence of representatives of the Sagrada Família at this celebration highlights the ties between Tortosa and the Basilica, which features a stained-glass window dedicated to Our Lady of the Cinta, the city’s patron saint, as part of the iconographic ensemble dedicated to the Diocese of Tortosa.
