Last Sunday, 6 September, Cardinal Joan Josep Omella i Omella, Archbishop of Barcelona and Ex-officio President of the Junta Constructora del Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família Foundation, and Esteve Camps, Executive Chairman of the Junta, took part in the traditional Virgin of the Cinta procession in Tortosa, one of the most noteworthy events during the festivities celebrating the city’s patron saint.

During the procession, Cardinal Omella carried the Main Banner of the Archconfraternity of Our Lady of the Cinta. He was accompanied by Esteve Camps and the Cardinal’s personal secretary Reverend Marc Labori, as the tassel-bearers.

The presence of Sagrada Família representatives at this celebration highlights the ties between Tortosa and the Basilica, which has a stained-glass window dedicated to the city’s patron, the Virgin of the Cinta, as part of its iconography representing the Tortosa diocese.
