The Basilica of the Sagrada Família was the backdrop for the presentation of several books studying Antoni Gaudí and his legacy, in an event that highlighted the Temple’s commitment to research, knowledge and intellectual promotion of the architect who designed it.

The closing remarks at the event were given by Dr Joan Torra of Ateneu Universitari Sant Pacià and the welcome remarks, by General Director of the Junta Constructora de la Sagrada Família Mr Xavier Martínez. The event presented three key works that delve deeper into the spiritual, historic and documentary sides of Gaudí and the Temple:

• Antoni Gaudí Cornet. Fonts històriques documentals (Historical documentary sources), by Dr Josep Maria Blanquet, which is scheduled to come out after 14 May. The content of the book was presented by PhD candidate Mònica Santín, who created the cover art, while Father Blanquet explained the structure and main lines of research.
• Antoni Gaudí. Una bibliografia espiritual i històrica (A spiritual and historical bibliography), by Dr Armand Puig i Tàrrech and introduced by Dr Tate Cabré.
• Estudis teològics sobre la Basílica de la Sagrada Família (Theological studies on the Basilica of the Sagrada Família), also by Dr Armand Puig i Tàrrech and presented by Dr Francesc Torralba. The cover art for both books features an image by journalist Tate Cabré.

Dr Armand Puig i Tàrrech delves deeper into the image of Gaudí as being deeply rooted in a spiritual vision of architecture, highlighting the central role of the Sagrada Família as a crowning expression of his theological and symbolic thinking.
