angle-left Sagrada Família celebrates Sant Jordi

The Sagrada Família celebrated the feast of Sant Jordi, patron saint of Catalonia, by opening its doors again to share this important day with the public.

Once again, the celebrations included a special after-hours tour of the Basilica on the eve of Sant Jordi. On 22 April, 180 people got to enjoy the most emblematic parts of the Temple and, new this year, discovered the digital art projection created with artificial intelligence and installed specially for Sant Jordi. The lucky participants were chosen by draw from the 41,593 people who entered.

All day on 23 April, anyone named after the Saint got to visit the Basilica for free with a guest. So, on the feast day of Sant Jordi, 2,899 people called Jordi or Jordina in any language visited the Basilica with a guest.

Art installation created with AI, for the first time at the Basilica of the Sagrada Família

For the first time, the Sagrada Família installed a digital art projection called Rosa, Rosae, created with artificial intelligence specially for the occasion and based on the values of innovation and creativity.

It is an innovative piece of digital art that combines shapes from a rose and inspired by Antoni Gaudí using artificial intelligence. Projected on a huge LED screen, the art piece is in direct dialogue with the sculpture of Saint George by Josep Maria Subirachs. It is accompanied by a musical composition inspired by the visual piece, exploring the extremes of the range of the organ at the Basilica.

This installation will be on display through 27 April and can also be seen online here.
