On 19 March, the Basilica of the Sagrada Família celebrated the feast day of Saint Joseph with a mass to commemorate the anniversary of the laying of the Temple’s cornerstone.
The service was led by Cardinal Joan Josep Omella i Omella, Archbishop of Barcelona and concelebrated by Cardinal Lluís Martínez Sistach, Archbishop Emeritus of Barcelona, the Bishop of Terrassa, Mons. Salvador Cristau; the Bishop of Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Mons. Xabier Gómez; and the Auxiliary Bishops of Barcelona, Mons. Javier Vilanova and Mons. David Abadías. In addition, several priests with ties to the diocese and retired priests from Saint Joseph Oriol residency were present.
The participation of Saint Joseph of the Mountain Shrine strengthened the commemorative aspect of this year’s mass, coinciding with the beginning of the events to celebrate its 125th anniversary. Music for the mass was performed by Cor Francesc Valls and organist Juan de la Rubia.
