The Basilica is hosting a temporary exhibition called “Art, science and faith: the Shroud Man and the Cross of Hope”, featuring the sculptures Shroud Man (Uomo sindónico), by Sergio Rodella, and Cross of Hope (Cristo della speranza), by master Albano Poli.
Shroud Man, in plaster, is the result of more than two years of scientific research and anatomical studies to recreate the most accurate depiction of the body of Christ crucified, while Cross of Hope, in bronze, captures the precise moment Christ overcame death to resurrect in a new life.
The sculptures will be at the Temple from Easter through Christmas 2025. After that they will take up their permanent location in one of Barcelona’s central churches, yet to be determined.
