This midday, Pope Francis named Mons. Sergi Gordo Rodríguez Bishop of Tortosa. The appointment was announced today, Thursday 13 July 2023 at 12 noon, as the Apostolic Nunciature notified the Spanish Episcopal Conference. The Bishop-elect will take up his position on Saturday 9 September 2023.

He was named Auxiliary Bishop of Barcelona on 19 June 2017 and his episcopal ordination was held on 9 September 2017 at the Basilica of the Sagrada Família in Barcelona. He has also been a member of the Board of Trustees since 2015.

The Junta Constructora de la Sagrada Família Board of Trustees would like to congratulate Mons. Sergi Gordo Rodríguez on his appointment as the new Bishop of Tortosa.
