This Thursday, the exterior of the Sagrada Família was the backdrop for the inaugural event of the Tour de France Grand Départ 2026. It was designed to welcome the first edition of the French race to kick off in Barcelona and project the city internationally.

President of the Government of Catalonia Salvador Illa, Mayor of Barcelona Jaume Collboni, Tour de France General Director Christian Prudhomme, and Executive Chairman of the Junta Constructora de la Sagrada Família Esteve Camps were all at the event, along with other authorities and representatives of the institutions involved in organising Grand Départ Barcelona 2026.

One of the central elements was the official presentation of the participating teams, who paraded to the Sagrada Família from the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site. Between the team presentations, the event featured music, dance, circus acts and popular culture, with staging that represented Barcelonas creative, open, Mediterranean character.

With this event, the Sagrada Família became the backdrop for an international celebration that unites sport, culture and heritage.
