We mourn the passing of Joan Rigol i Roig, who served as the Executive Chairman of the Junta Constructora de la Sagrada Família between 2005 and 2011. Born in Torrelles de Llobregat on 4 April 1943, he had a background in humanistic and philosophical studies.

During Rigol’s tenure, all interior spaces were closed off and on 7 November 2010, Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the Basilica for religious worship and designated it a minor basilica
