angle-left Sagrada Família, open to dialogue with neighbours and City Council to improve the neighbourhood

This Thursday, a delegation from the Junta Constructora de la Sagrada Família, led by General Director Xavier Martínez, participated in the first meeting to tackle execution of the project for the Glory façade. Also at the meeting promoted by the City Council were city councillors Janet Sanz and Jordi Martí and representatives from several associations of professionals (Architects’ Association of Catalonia) and neighbours (Associació de Veïns de la Sagrada Família, Plataforma d’Afectats per la Sagrada Família and SOS Monuments).

The representatives of the Junta Constructora expressed its openness to dialogue, remembering that great consensus and agreements have been reached recently, such as those regarding the urban-planning permits and loaning the City Council a transition space to be used by the Antoni Gaudí scout troop. “The door is always open at the Sagrada Família to anyone looking for dialogue and consensus. We’ll talk about anything,” noted the general director.

At this gathering, the Junta Constructora presented the plans for the Sagrada Família project, signed by Antoni Gaudí. These documents are from 1916, confirming the architect’s desire to build stairs up to the Temple’s main entrance. These plans are available to the public and, for the top representatives of the Junta Constructora, confirm its top priority: to build the Basilica just as Gaudí planned it.
