Each year, the Sagrada Família supports several charity and social causes by illuminating the Nativity façade and will do so three times this year.
On 2 April, the façade was lit up in blue for World Autism Awareness Day. This action is part of the “Conecta’t a l’Autisme” campaign led by Aprenem Autisme Associació to raise awareness of the needs of people with autism and their families.
The next charity illumination will take place on 9 October for World Sight Day. That illumination will also use blue to highlight the work of the Eyes of the World Foundation, which strives to prevent and treat preventable blindness in vulnerable areas. Finally, on 22 October, the façade will be bathed in green to support Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Awareness Day, thanks to the collaboration with Asociación Síndrome Phelan-McDermid.
Through these actions, the Sagrada Família reaffirms its commitment to a society that is more solidary and just.
