The first lightning took place this past Saturday, 10th January, and the chosen color was red in support of the Blood Donation Marathon, currently being held in Catalonia.

The next will be on February 19th, in green, in observance of the World Cholangiocarcinoma Day, as part of the awareness campaign fostered by the Association of Biliary Tract Tumours, ATUVIBI, to raise visibility for those suffering from this liver cancer.

On 20th September, the Basilica will join the World Mitochondrial Disease Week and light up its façade in green, an initiative led by the Spanish Association of Mitochondrial Pathologies.

On 28th March the Sagrada Família will once again participate in Earth Hour. For one hour, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the Basilica’s lighting will be switched off to join this global gesture against climate change.

Through these actions, the Sagrada Família strengthens its commitment to a fairer and more supportive society.
