angle-left Sagrada Família lights up to raise awareness of mitochondrial diseases

The Nativity façade of the Basilica of the Sagrada Família was lit up in green on Saturday, 19 September as part of the international Light Up for Mito initiative. This campaign aims to raise awareness of mitochondrial diseases and is organised by the Spanish Association of Patients with Mitochondrial Disorders (AEPMI).

Hundreds of buildings, monuments and emblematic spaces around the world took part in this symbolic action, going green to draw attention to these diseases that affect thousands of people and that most of society is unaware of.

This was the third charity illumination of the Nativity façade this year. With these actions, the Sagrada Família helps raise awareness of different social causes and supports organisations working to improve quality of life for people affected by various diseases and experiencing vulnerable situations.
