Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI passed away on 31 December 2022.  Mr Esteve Camps, Executive Chairman of the Junta Constructora del Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família, and Jaume Solé, secretary of the Sagrada Família Board of Trustees; accompanied by Mr Xavier Martínez, general director of the Sagrada Família, and Mr Jordi Faulí, head architect of the Basilica, signed the book of condolence provided by the Archdiocese of Barcelona, saying their goodbyes to Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.

We remember fondly his visit to Barcelona in 2010 to consecrate the Basilica of the Sagrada Família.

On Saturday 7 January 2023 at 5:00 pm, a funeral mass for the eternal rest of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI will be held at the Basilica of the Sagrada Família.
