The monolith homage to Joan Maragall, first inaugurated on 21 December 1961, has been returned to its place in front of the Nativity façade at the Sagrada Família. The monolith was removed during the works on the cloister. The sculpture, erected to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of the poet’s birth (1860) and fiftieth anniversary of his death (1911), symbolises Maragall’s admiration of Gaudí and the Temple.
The monolith, a stone sculpture, features excerpts from Maragall’s writing about the Temple of the Sagrada Família. It can now be seen on the Nativity façade, in front of the cloister of Our Lady of the Rosary.
