In 2021, on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the Basilica of the Sagrada Família reached a historic milestone, inaugurating the tower of the Virgin Mary. The mass and blessing of the new tower was led by Cardinal Joan Josep Omella i Omella, Archbishop of Barcelona.

After the religious service, the star on top of the tower was lit for the first time. The people could follow the event from the streets of Barcelona and around the world on the live stream.

Now, the tower of the Virgin Mary and the towers of the Evangelists are all lit up until 11:00 pm.
