Christmas at the Sagrada Família
The Basilica of the Sagrada Família is offering a programme of celebrations and activities to share with the people and enjoy the Christmas spirit together.
It includes religious services, workshops and concerts for everyone, old and young, to experience the symbolism of this very special time of year. The events will take place from 30 November through 6 January, giving people the chance to connect with Christmas culture and traditions

Christmas Concert
The traditional Christmas Concert will be held on Friday 12 December at 7:00 pm. This year it was performed by the Orchestra and Choir of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, who performed a selection of works ranging from Gregorian Chant to pieces by great composers such as Bach, Saint Saëns, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Vivaldi, Häendel, ending with the most classic and traditional carols such as El noi de la mare, Santa nit and Joia en el món.
As every Christmas, the Sagrada Família has made tickets available to the public to attend the concert and enjoy this emotional event firsthand.

Illumination of sculpture groups on the Nativity façade
To share the Christmas spirit with everyone in Barcelona, the Basilica will light up the sculpture groups of the Nativity, the Adoration of the shepherds and the Adoration of the Magi on the Nativity façade. They will be illuminated from 30 November to 6 January, from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm.

Digital installation: a façade born from within
From 22 December to 6 January, in the Glory area inside the Basilica, visitors will get to enjoy a digital Christmas installation inviting people to explore and discover the symbolism-filled details of the Nativity façade designed by Antoni Gaudí. This experience reveals the façade’s beauty and meaning to visitors, making it a Christmas celebration full of art and spirituality. Due to public works on Carrer de la Marina, the installation will be set up inside the Basilica.
From 22 December to 6 January, in the Glory area inside the Basilica, visitors will get to enjoy a digital Christmas installation inviting people to explore and discover the symbolism-filled details of the Nativity façade designed by Antoni Gaudí. Carolling with children’s choirs
On 19 December at 7:00 pm, this year’s traditional Christmas carolling featured more than 300 boys and girls from children’s choirs that belong to the Catalan Children’s Choir Federation.
The singers performed a concert in four parts, each related to a scene from the Nativity of Jesus. The chosen carols took the audience on a musical journey through the Annunciation, Nativity, Adoration and celebration of Christmas, including traditional Catalan carols such as Fum, fum, fum, El noi de la mare and El desembre congelat, among others.

Sagrada Família family Christmas workshop
Once again, this year, the Sagrada Família is offering a Christmas workshop for kids aged 6 to 12. With this activity, the little ones will be able to experience the spirit of Christmas at the Basilica.
During the dynamic visit, children will explore the Façade of the Nativity, discover the temple and have to solve a series of challenges that will help them live the meaning of Christmas and its traditions.
Afterwards, they will be able to test their creativity in an artistic activity, decorating and assembling their own nativity scene to take home a very special memory of this Christmas.
Looking to become a Gaudí expert? The Sagrada Família has teamed up with La Pedrera to offer you the stampable 'Mission Gaudí' passport when you take part in the Christmas workshops run by either institution.

On 24 December at 7:00 pm, the Sagrada Família will host Midnight Mass for the little ones to celebrate Christmas and the arrival of Jesus. The ceremony will be led by Mons. David Abadías, Auxiliary Bishop of Barcelona.
Tickets can be collected at the Sagrada Família pastoral secretariat (Carrer de Sardenya 318 - crypt entrance) from 15 December, until capacity is reached.
