This Saturday, 12 September, Nens del Vendrell took part in the evening international mass at the Sagrada Família. To celebrate the hundredth anniversary of this castell group, they built an eight-storey human tower with four people on each level, combining tradition, popular culture and spirituality in a unique setting.
Some of the distinguished guests included Mr Esteve Camps, Executive Chairman of the Junta Constructora del Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família Foundation, and other members of the board of trustees; Mr Kenneth Martínez, mayor of El Vendrell; Ms Sílvia Vaquero, El Vendrell city councillor for Culture; Ms Marta Ventura, vice-president of the Tarragona Provincial Council; Mr Quim Nin, mayor of Albinyana; Ms Judith Vidal, acting mayor of La Bisbal del Penedès; and Ms Montserrat Ventosa, mayor of Llorenç del Penedès.
During the offertory, some of the children left one of the group’s bandannas as an offering and symbol of thanks. This performance was part of the hundredth anniversary of this human-tower group, established in 1926, coinciding with the hundredth anniversary of Antoni Gaudí’s death.
