angle-left The Sagrada Família is Passion

Easter Week is nearly here and the Sagrada Família has put together a programme of religious, cultural and popular events. The programme includes the Easter Concert and family workshop, as well as Palm Sunday mass, the Paschal Triduum and the Via Crucis. The Passion façade will also be lit up for Easter Week to share the story of the Passion and death of Jesus Christ through music and spoken word.

Easter workshop

The Easter family workshop aims to help children discover the meaning of Easter in a fun, sweet way. The activity includes a tour of the most emblematic parts of the Temple and several discovery games to learn about the Passion façade. The workshop finishes off with the kids decorating a chocolate egg to take home with them. This workshop is being held with collaboration from the Chocolate Museum and Barcelona Official Pastry School.

Easter Concert with Orquestra de Cambra de Granollers, Cor Infantil Amics de la Unió and Cor de Cambra de Granollers

On Friday 22 March at 7:30 pm, the Basilica will host its Easter Concert featuring Orquestra de Cambra de Granollers, Veus-Cor Infantil Amics de la Unió and Cor de Cambra de Granollers. They will play excerpts from two of the four Passions by Johann Sebastian Bach: the ones based on the Gospels according to Matthew and John.

To include residents in this experience, the Sagrada Família is holding a draw to give out 325 tickets for two for the concert. Anyone interested can enter the draw using the form on the Sagrada Família website or on social media from 10:00 am on 11 March to 9:00 pm on 17 March. The draw will be held on 17 March and the list of winners will be posted on the website on Monday 18 March.

Illumination of the Passion façade

On 24, 25 and 26 March from 8:00 pm, visitors will be able to see a musical light show featuring text written by Mons. Javier Vilanova, Auxiliary Bishop of Barcelona, on the Passion façade.

There will be two sessions a day, each lasting 30 minutes. The first one, at 8:00 pm, will be in Catalan and the second, at 8:45 pm, in Spanish. This activity is free and open to all.

The Basilica will also host the religious services for Palm Sunday mass, the Paschal Triduum and the Via Crucis.
