“The word that builds humanity. The Evangelists at the Sagrada Família”

On 16 November, Casa de l’ Almoina, at the Museu Diocesà, hosted the conference “The word that builds humanity. The Evangelists at the Sagrada Família”, on the meaning of the four evangelists and their maximum artistic expression in the towers at the Basilica.
The event kicked off with a welcome by Dr Santiago Bueno, Dean of the Cathedral Chapter, and Mr Esteve Camps, Executive Chairman of the Junta Constructora del Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família. The conference featured Dr Robert Baró, Canon of the Barcelona Cathedral and director of the Archdiocese of Barcelona Secretariat of Culture, who spoke about the figures of the tetramorph throughout art history. Dr Margarita Bofarull, Faith and Culture delegate of the Archdiocese of Barcelona, discussed theological and evangelical aspects, as well as the meaning of Announcing the Gospel. Dr Maria Garganté, PhD in Geography and History from the University of Barcelona and member of the Sagrada Família Art Committee, focused on the iconography and anthropological dimension, and Dr Jordi Faulí Oller, head architect of the Basilica of the Sagrada Família, spoke about the four towers of the Evangelists at the Sagrada Família, inaugurated on 12 November. The event was moderated by Mons. Josep Maria Turull, Canon of the Barcelona Cathedral and Rector of the Basilica of the Sagrada Família.
This conference is part of the collaboration between the Sagrada Família and the Barcelona Cathedral on pastoral work, liturgy and cultural and religious dissemination.
