On Monday 16 December at 6:30 pm, the Sagrada Família Nativity façade hosted a lovely carolling session. It took place outside the Nativity façade, which features a crèche sculpted in stone and the sculpture groups of the Nativity of Christ, the Adoration of the shepherds and the Adoration of the Magi.
This year, the performance featured three choirs from the Lluïsos de Gràcia association: Coral El Virolet, with children from 7 to 9 years old and from 9 to 15 years old. And Coral Sinera, with singers aged 15 to 25.
The choirs performed a varied repertoire of traditional Catalan carols, including Cançoneta del bon tió de Nadal, Fum, fum, fum, El noi de la mare and Les dotze van tocant, and international songs like The Lord bless you and keep you, Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town and the Nigerian tune Betelehemu. To round out the Christmas experience, there was hot chocolate for the audience.
The Christmas carolling is part of the programme the Basilica has prepared to invite the people to experience the spirit of Christmas. Check out all the activities here.
