angle-left Orfeón Donostiarra to sing for first time at Sagrada Família

On Sunday 26 March at 11:00 am, the Basilica will fill with the music of Orfeón Donostiarra, an amateur choir institution founded 125 years ago in San Sebastián. Directed by José Antonio Sainz Alfaro and accompanied by Juan de la Rubia on the organ, the group will perform a repertory of pieces by artists like Handel, Verdi and Mahler, among others, as well as some in Euskera such as Basque composer Tomás Garbizu’s Ave María.

In 2022, Orfeón Donostiarra celebrated 125 uninterrupted years of choir activities, passion for music and great professional dedication, despite its amateur nature. This performance will highlight the group’s versatility and the excellence achieved over this long history. This concert is also possible thanks to the collaboration of TUI experiences, a platform that allows travellers from around the world to book thousands of excursions, activities and tickets for attractions and places of tourist interest in over 100 countries directly on www.tuiexperiences.com.

Like every year, the Basilica is hosting a concert before kicking off Easter Week, inviting the people to enjoy it. The programme of events will be announced in the coming weeks.
